Our story
Jacques Naudé came to Trancoso with a few thousand euros, a car with a tow-bar and a trailer, and worked the land himself for four years.

Why Joseph’s Dream
The biblical Joseph saw the years of plenty coming, and the lean ones after. He planned, stored, and built a refuge where his family and many others could thrive. That is the dream in our name: wise stewardship that creates stability for families across generations.

Those first years on the land taught us what an orchard really needs.
What we do
Most people who want an orchard in Portugal meet a dozen separate businesses: estate agents, engineers, consultants, nurseries, contractors, accountants, buyers. We bring all of it into one team that answers for the result.
Land
Abandoned and under-used parcels in Beira Interior, checked for soil depth and water before anyone signs. Land here costs a fraction of other production regions.
Funding
We design and submit the investment project; EU programmes co-fund 50–70% of it. We deal with up to 64 public and private bodies so you never have to.
Planting
Soil mapping, ripping, compost, boreholes, dams, solar and drip irrigation — then planting, only when the infrastructure is ready.
Farming
Our own crews and tractor teams, with sprayers, weeders and drones; specialist agronomists on site every month; sheep grazing the understory.
Harvest & sales
Mechanised harvest, separate organic lots, and sales pooled across every family’s orchard, so each one negotiates like a large producer.
Reporting
Every job, treatment and photo is logged as it happens; owners receive reports and are welcome on the farm any day.
Our clients own the land. Every improvement belongs to them.
And every one of those stages is done one way.
100% Organic
Every hectare we farm is certified organic under EU Regulation 2018/848, and has been from day one. No synthetic fertilisers, no herbicides, no synthetic pesticides. We don’t treat organic as a label we chase. It is the hardest standard in farming, and we chose it on purpose.
In 2026 the cooperative we sell through paid €7.50/kg for organic almond kernel, against €5.70 for conventional.

Locally made compost, cover crops that fix nitrogen, and sheep that turn grass into fertility.

Our crews work alongside senior consultants who have each spent more than 30 years managing large almond and walnut orchards in Spain and Portugal, an organic nursery and technical partner from Almería, walnut-variety specialists, soil laboratories, and irrigation and project engineers. They are on our farms every month, and they train our team in the field.
A Spanish agronomist has walked our orchards every month since April 2025.

Since 2026 our whole company runs on AI that we built ourselves. Every voice note from the field is transcribed, every photo read and filed, every treatment recorded against the right tree row. Each member of the team works with their own AI assistant, in four languages.
Our system is called Zaph — the name Pharaoh gave Joseph.

What one fee covers.
One all-inclusive fee per planted hectare covers our team, machinery, fuel, specialists, subsidy and certification work, and reporting. Set-up costs are charged at cost, and our own time isn’t billed until the first hectares are planted. And because annual EU support helps cover running costs, Europe pays a large share of the way.
